When It Comes to Safety, No One Does it Like Volvo

It goes without saying that every auto manufacturer in the world develops their vehicles with the idea that their drivers are safe in doing so. Every year, about 1.25 million people are killed in auto accidents; a statistic that Volvo is fiercely fighting back against. Their goal is that by 2020, no driver who gets behind the wheel of a new Volvo vehicle will be killed or seriously injured.

Backing up that goal is the fact that the Volvo S90, V90, and XC90 are three of the best-ever performing cars in the Euro NCAP safety ratings. This esteemed position is the culmination of decades of safety iteration and innovation across the entire Volvo lineup beginning all the way back with the first-ever vehicle produced in 1927.

In 1958, the company hired its first-ever safety engineer, Nils Bohlin and just a year later would be the first automaker to implement the three-point safety belt we know and use today as a standard feature.

In recent years, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) have recognized models such as the Volvo XC60, S60, and V60 as being worthy of Five-Star Overall Safety Rating status and Top Safety Picks, respectively.

Rest assured that when you get behind the wheel of a Volvo, your well-being is in good hands.
