Volvo has some lofty ambitions when it comes to vehicle safety, but since we all know how serious the Swedish automaker takes safety -- and how exceptionally good they are at it -- we think they're right to aim high. By the year 2020, Volvo hopes to wipe fatal accidents off the map, preventing crashes with safety systems that put the ability to mitigate and prevent collision in the hands of the vehicle, more-so than ever before.
The automaker works toward this goal with several standard high-tech safety features, like its City Safety system which automatically brakes in the event of an impending collision. The 2015 Volvo XC60, for instance, boasts this lifesaving technology, as well as an optional Blind Spot Information System and Technology package, which includes such features as lane-departure warning and fully automatic braking.
